DÜSSELDORF – Five Dutch yachts have been nominated for a ‘European Boat of The Year 2021’ award. Winners will be announced at the 2021 Boat Düsseldorf January 23 to 31, 2021 (Jan. 23-31), the world’s largest indoor boating event.

The Dutch nominees are:
- (Sailing boats). Category: Luxury Cruiser: The Contest 55C, a 17m Judel/Vrolijk design of 17m. A highly finished, go-anywhere bluewater performance yacht with a choice of sailing systems, set up and management, and

Traditionally, the boat-of-the-year prizes are announced on the opening day of Boot Düsseldorf.
It remains to be seen how that will turn out in the age of COVID-19.
The awards were initiated in 2004 by the German sail magazine YACHT. The jury consists of editors of 12 boating magazines across Europe.

Editors and test experts meet 4 times every year to nominate candidates and put all boats through sea trials lasting several days.
The 2021 awards jury has sailed more than 40.000nm.
