JIRNSUM _ In 2016, Boarnstream International Motoryachts’ 12m. Elegance Sedan was named European Powerboat of the Year 2016. The jury called its “layout, subtle lines and level of finishing … exceptional (and) a huge leap forward in steel yacht building.” Since then, the yard has added to the series a 15m Boarncruiser 1500 Elegance CS (for Center Sleeper) which won a nomination for Powerboat of the Year 2018.

It is not the largest in the Elegance series _ Boarnstream also makes an 18m version _ but it features significant innovations. The outcome: a comfortable, luxury seaworthy boat with a round-bilge hull and a range of 2,400nm at 11.5 km.

The 1500 Boarncruiser Elegance CS comes standard with a Volvo Penta D4, 3.7-liter diesel engine using common-rail fuel injection, double overhead camshafts and turbo. It measures   16.7 x 4.75 x 1.25m (54,8 x 15, 6 x 4.1 ft.). But that overall length of 16.7m includes the bathing platform. Take that away and the yacht’s length drops to just under 15m. (49.2ft.) exempting it from the Rhine license, but leaving it with lots more volume than other 15m. ships.

The master cabin sprawls across the full beam resulting in more than 17.5m² (188.4 sq. ft.) of space. There are also 2 large guest cabins, a large main deck saloon, integrated fender storage in the superstructure, a hydraulic aft storage door and a Volvo Penta docking system in which engines, rudders and bow thruster can be operated by joystick. The 1500 Boarncruiser Elegance CS comes with 3 joysticks: 1 at the main helm position and 2 in the cockpit.

For a luxury finish, the saloon deck comes equipped with specially designed furniture by Leolux, the Dutch Design furniture house. The Dutch yachting magazine De Waterkampioen commented in a review that the Boarncruiser 1500CS “was designed and suited for long voyages. Also, the boat is silent which boosts onboard comfort as does the addition of a center sleeper.”
