THE HAGUE – Deep Water Yachts has delivered the Korvet18 LowRider ‘THOR’, a Willem Nieland Design that will cruise effortlessly between the equator and the poles. The 18.9m (60ft.) CE-A ocean-rated, fast-displacement motor yacht cruises at 10 knots, has a top speed of 18 knots and a 3.5m (11.5ft) air draft.
With redundancy in systems and use of the best materials and equipment, the LowRider is a cruising platform with an untreated aluminum hull built by Merwelands Shipyard Rotterdam.
It has 2 John Deere engines (355HP)and 2 joysticks: one at the steering position, one on the aft deck. The yacht has a 5m (16.4ft.) beam and comes equipped with a MagnusMaster stabilization system.
Characteristic of the Korvet design is the large, airy living space, 3 cabins and 2 wet cells.
The yacht can accommodate 6 guests. The below-deck lounge has an open connection with the wheelhouse, where the galley and dining area are located. There is also an outdoor galley with a grill, hob and sink set into a granite plate.
Nieland’s bulging portfolio includes 4 ‘boat of the year’ awards in the Netherlands since 2003.
His last, in 2015, was for the Korvet 14CLR, an offshore cruiser that also came with an untreated aluminum hull. Like the Korvette18LowRider, it too oozes the functionality that so appeals to Nieland and that is a recurrent element in all his designs.
