Docking on a dime, quietly! – Vetus’ new retractable bow thrusters

SCHIEDAM, July 2017 ~ Vetus has introduced an innovative line of retractable bow thrusters that lets you turn a boat on dime in small ports and offers major advantages compared to the competition.

VETUS optimized the tunnel ergonomics to generate more power and less noise. Crucially, all underwater parts are non-corrosive. The unit also boasts unique safety combinations like a thruster start protection, overload and jam protection and a safety pin protection for lid overload. It is electronically prepared for communication based on CAN protocol a less intricate design and has fewer moving parts.

The Retractable is light-weight and compact. It can be installed in confined places on either sail or motor-powered boats of up to 20m in length. The Retractable’s patented swivel point design means the thruster rotates as one unit. It deploys and retracts automatically after the thruster engine is started or cut off.

A VETUS bow thruster panel is sold separately. The thruster is available in tunnels with a diameter of 150, 185mm or 250mm. The thrust forces range from 55 kgf to 160 kgf in 12V and 24V.
