Dutch nominees for 2018 METSTRADE Dame design award

AMSTERDAM – The METSTRADE show’s annual DAME Design Award hails design in marine products and services. From styling, functionality and innovation to ease of use and packaging. The dozens of nominees from around the world in 2018 include 3 Dutch companies in 3 different categories. They are:

EXALTO BV – Stand 01.22
Cat: Marine-related electronics and software

Exalto has 3 marine business-units _ parts, wipers and propulsion. It is nominated for its NMEA 2000 control system for wipers. The major standard for ship control communications today is NMEA 2000. Most components can communicate in this language. Yet, not wiper control. Exalto introduces a control system for any on-board NMEA 2000 network. It facilitates control through a special panel or complete integration with an existing ship control screen.

Cat: Interior equipment, furnishings, materials and electrical fittings used in cabins

Kabola makes diesel-fired boilers for continuous use. It is nominated for its KB Ecoline Hybrid, the first blue-flame, oil-fired boiler which is 100% carbon free with a hybrid function that achieves fuel savings of up to 40%. No more exhaust gases in the harbor. When used in combination with a solar panel, a boat can be heated with green energy.

Cat: Machinery, propulsion, mechanical and electrical systems and fittings

Veth Propulsion makes rudder props, bow thrusters, diesel engines and generator sets. It is nominated for its Veth Integrated L-drive, a compact, 360-degree thruster because the PM Motor is integrated in the slewing bearing, combined with a special mounting method, the alignment of the headsets and control box adjustments. Made of proven mechanical components, the unit achieves much noise reduction and high efficiency.
