With a turnover of 4,8 billion euros and a workforce of 41 500 people, the French nautical industry has obtained its best results since 2007/2008 with a growth rate of 9% (!) recorded in 2017. According to the French Nautical Industries Federation (FIN), export sales have increased from 62 to 75% of France’s nautical production in just 10 years’ time. This rise to pre-crisis levels was stimulated by strong results on the sailing market (boat production, equipment and services).
The French boating industry has indeed established itself as one of the world’s best manufacturers of sailboats and habitable multihulls and is also recognized as the fourth largest producer of motorboats in the world. The balance of trade of its leisure boating market has been encouraged by the European and North American growth of the last few years.
