Heesen Yachts stretches sales – Superyacht maker sells 5th yacht in 2017

OSS, December 2017 ~ Heesen Yachts has sold its 5th superyacht in 2017. The fast, aluminum-hulled 50m vessel, still only known as Project Boreas, has a Fast Displacement Hull Form, a patent of Van Oossanen Naval Architects. It has appeared on about 10 Heesen yachts to date. It gives the 50m yacht a top speed of nearly 20 knots.

At 12 knots, the yacht will have a coveted transatlantic range of 3,750 nautical miles using only 98 liters of fuel per hour _ quite remarkable for a yacht of under 500GT that displaces 320 tons.” It is powered by twin MTU 12V 2000 M72 engines (1080kW each). Project Boreas will be delivered in mid-2019 after sea trials on the North Sea. The sale of the yacht brings the total length of Heesen yachts sold in 2017 to 257 meters.
