X-treme Yachts 105

CORTINA d’AMPEZZO – Holterman Shipyard began rolling out its X-treme model line of four pocket superyachts in late 2022.

On Feb. 8, at a posh yacht design show in this alpine resort, La Fleur, the X-treme line’s 33m (108ft) flagship, won an Innovation of the Year award for its large RIB tender bay that doubles as a swimming pool.

“The solution is so novel,” said the Boat International Design & Innovation Awards jury, “it has to be seen to be believed.” Creative engineering turned the yacht’s aft third into a catamaran with a center float-in, float-out RIB bay. When the RIB is out, the tender bay rises, becoming an 11m (36ft) seawater pool.

La Fleur also finished first in the Outstanding Exterior Design category for its length. “The fact that Lady Fleur carries such a large owner’s tender without looking like a cargo carrier,” said the jury, “is a remarkable design achievement.”

The X-treme-105 lacks a single engine room. It has four technical compartments: 2 for AC and water maker units, one for electrical systems and one for the 750HP Volvo engines. Xtreme yachts are a significant departure from boats Holterman Yachts has been making for 50+ years. Owner Robbert Holterman: “Xtreme yachts are not defined by length, but by their extreme capabilities.” La Fleur is Holterman Yachts’ largest yacht ever built.

Other Dutch winners:

  • Van der Valk Shipyard: Lady Lene (Best Interior Design to 499GT)

his pure custom 33m (108ft) motor yacht impressed the jury as it was designed to accommodate a family member with limited mobility: two owner’s suites, ample space for crew and extra staff, supple leather-clad grab rails, an “easy flow all around the decks,” boarding access wide enough for a wheelchair and all the way to the cabins which are accessible via an elevator.

“Lady Lene stands on its own merit as elegant, thoughtful and practical,” said the jury. Lady Lene, winner of a ‘Judges Commendation’ at the 2022 World Superyacht Awards, has a Fast Displacement hull, a wave-piercing bow and a Hull Vane transom wing that grants on-board comfort and significant fuel savings.

  • Heesen Yachts – Lusine (Judges’ Commendation)

The judges “were highly impressed with the design complexity and beauty exhibited” of the 60.4m Heesen-built yacht. They noted how “the elaborate lighting plan showcased the elegant joinery, rich textures, and rare stone surfaces throughout, controlling shadows and providing appropriate illumination at every level.”
