Joy Rider, Damen’s 15th yacht support craft, off to Monaco

GORINCHEM – Amels, the superyacht unit of Damen Shipyards, has launched the 46m (151ft.) Joy Rider, raising Damen’s fleet of yacht support vessels to 15. The yard says Joy Rider will be available for immediate delivery in September. The vessel will be shown at the Monaco Yacht Show.

Damen’s Yacht Support vessels shadow a mother yacht carrying all the toys, tenders and what-have-you. This keeps the mother ship clutter-free and lets it leave on a moment’s notice. Damen’s yacht support craft range from 46 to 74m (151 to 242ft).

A Damen Yacht Support vessel

Joy Rider is a special yacht support version. It has more room for guests than any other support craft and can accommodate half a dozen guests and a crew of 7. Buying a yacht support vessel is cheaper than buying a larger yacht. It’s what Damen calls the “smart stretch” because a support vessel must be comfortable but need not feature a superyacht finish inside and out.

“The newly developed Joy Rider is perfect for the owner who wants to enjoy amazing adventures and undersea treasures,” says Victor Caminada, Amels’ brand and communications manager.

“”The support craft offers a fun and flexible configuration with comfortable accommodation and lots of room for high-end toys, submarines and tenders. The workhorse at the heart of the action is an impressive high-performance 6.7-tonne deck crane, making use of the aft deck space for tenders and toys.”
