LEIMUIDEN – Lekker Boats has added a 13.5m seaworthy ‘day boat’ that can do 50 knots or 92 kms/hr, almost the top speed for cars on the Netherlands’ crowded highways.
The yard says its Lekker-44 has a powerful, robust and functional design and maximum comfort. The boat and its modular interior were designed by Cor de Rover. Naval architecture by deVosdeVries design.
“The Lekker 44 is about a spontaneous weekend getaway in your super-fast, custom-built day boat,” says Lekker Boats founder Meindert Wolfraad. “We watch weight issues like a hawk, so our boats consume less and are as fast as possible. Every square inch is well thought out for maximum user comfort and functionality. Thanks to the sleek aluminum hull, our boats will still be sailing in 100 years.”
The Lekker 44 is designed and built in the Netherlands. It follows two luxury tenders marketed by Lekker Boats as the Damsko 750 and 1000. The Lekker 44 comes in three configurations: Sport, Adventure and Ultimate.
The lightweight Sport model has 16 outdoor seats and a toilet. The Adventure has a spacious cabin and two berths, and a bathroom. The Ultimate has two cabins with a total of four berths. In one cabin, the double bed is fixed. In the other, it can be turned into a table.
The Lekker 44 has a Volvo Penta joystick system for easy docking.
Lekker Boats says it will limit construction to 50 boats each year. “The 44 is designed for captains with a healthy need for adrenaline and an eye for design, who don’t want to compromise on comfort,” says Wolfraad said.
“We involve new boat owners closely in the construction process: everything is negotiable. Think for example of a massage chair for the captain. Or an integrated barbecue in the outdoor kitchen.”
The official launch of the Lekker 44 will take place at the Cannes Yachting Festival. It will also be shown at the Fort Lauderdale, Genoa, Monaco and Miami boat shows.
