AMSTERDAM – With the 2017-18 Volvo Ocean Race just past its halfway point, Mastervolt’s CZone control & monitoring system is going through an unprecedented test.
Installed on all VOR boats, CZone digital control & monitoring network simplifies installation of electrical systems. It replaces complicated wiring to switch and fuse panels with state-of-the-art interfaces and a light NMEA 2000 network. It automates complex control and monitoring during the long periods when the VOR fleet is at sea in challenging conditions.
Mastervolt support staff check every VOR boat at each stopover. Speaking from Auckland, Akzo Nobel Boat Captain Nicolai Sehested reported a problem-free race so far. “I’m really impressed how solid (the CZone) is,” Sehested said in Auckland. “We never have any issues or failures. It just works! It doesn’t matter how we treat it. No complaints at all.”

_ Alpha Pro III regulator that turns any alternator into an advanced 3-step battery charger and monitors the engine load to dampen engine noise and ease alternator wear and tear. It also communicates with the electrical system via the MasterBus data cable. It is suitable for every type of battery chemistry, including Li-Ion and works with 12 and 24 V systems.
_ Charge Mate Pro 90, an electronic relay that lets a second battery receive up to 90A of charge current from a single alternator. It is suitable for all battery types, ideal for recharging Lithium Ion cells and an effective solution for high onboard power demand.
_ MLI-E Lithium Ion battery which bridges the gap between Mastervolt’s most compact Li-Ion battery, the MLS series, and its high-capacity sister, the MLI Ultra. The MLI-E is a fast-charging mid-size battery offering long life and deep-cycle discharge. By using the safe Lithium Iron Phosphate chemistry, the MLI-E saves up to 70% in space and weight, recharges in under an hour and can discharge 80% of its capacity up to 5,000 times without damage, a lifespan 10 times longer than an equivalent lead acid battery.
