MONACO _ Mulder Shipyard had a very modest presence at the 2018 Monaco Yacht Show that was greatly enhanced by the news that a MulderTirtySix, now being built, has been sold. The yacht (photo), to be named Calypso, will be delivered in early 2019.
Mulder has had a very successful run in recent years with +30m yachts. In 2015, it delivered the 34m Solis (315GT) and in 2017 the 36m Delta One (298T).
The Mulder shipyard marks its 80th anniversary this year. It remains a traditional family business pursuing a conservative strategy. It seriously expanded its yard in 2013, enabling it to build yachts up to 45 meters. Both Solis and Delta One won World Superyacht Awards for ‘Best Displacement Motoryacht’ in their size-range. Both yachts’ naval architecture was handled by Van Oossanen Naval architects which has patented its successful Fast Displacement Hull Form.
“We have invested a lot of time and engineering in the philosophy of the Mulder ThirtySix,” Dick Mulder. “Building yachts on spec significantly reduces delivery time for buyers which is appealing. It’s an amazing vessel in every aspect. The sale of BN110 emphasizes we are on the right track and having her available for charter as well is a big plus.”
