URK _ Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology, the Dutch specialist in turnkey electrotechnical systems, has completed work on 4 yacht refits and upgrades.

On the 34m, Vitters-built high-performance sailing yacht Missy, it upgraded battery systems, adding power to the original 60 kWh lithium-ion pack. The point of the refit was to extend the night mode period, says the company. The new Victron Energy system lets Missy operate round the clock with a generator of only 28 kW.

The work also led to giving the yacht’s engineer full control over the electrical system. If desired, the charging process can be accelerated, or a night mode period terminated, earlier to reserve power.

Piet Brouwer Electrotechnology also did a health check and 5-year survey on the 82m Secret, a motor yacht Abeking & Rasmussen delivered in 2013. That work included a megger test which measure the electrical system’s insulation resistance which degrades over time.
