Saffier Yachts moves into roomier quarters to meet demand

IJMUIDEN – Saffier Yachts makes peerless, oh-so-chic open-cockpit daysailers that sell like hot cakes. To meet growing demand for its boats, the company left its production facility in this North Sea port just west of Amsterdam and found roomier quarters, again in IJmuiden.

Yard director Dennis Hennevanger looked near and far for alternative sites. In the end, he found a suitable space in IJmuiden. Check out the company’s spectacular video ( tour-by-drone-through-our-brand-new-yard/) of that new production facility.

It gives a sweeping bird’s eye view of a modern, very efficient operation, equipped with 12 64-ton overhead cranes and a water basin to test boats’ water-tightness. At 4,000 sq. ft, the space is four times larger than the current yard. It can build 35 yachts at a time. The new home also houses a carpentry workshop, a design and engineering department, sales space and a large storage hall.

Saffier Yachts has posted remarkable growth in recent years. It kicked off 2021 by winning the European Yacht of the Year award for the Saffier Se 27 Leisure. It sells scores of yachts annually.

Saffier Se 33 Life

Last August, its Saffier Se 33 Life received an EYOTY nomination, sold 18 off the drawing boards and received 46 orders filling delivery slots into 2023. The EYOTY nomination for the Saffier Se 33 Life was the 6th for Saffier, a brand that blends single-handed sailing with performance-driven open cockpit sailing yachts. In Saffiers, all sheets, halyards and trim lines run below deck to the helmsman position making single-handed sailing a standard for the brand.
