AMSTERDAM – HISWA Holland Marine Industry says the long, hot summer of 2018 enabled the Dutch boating sector to score a turnover growth of 4.8%. But it cautions there were significant differences within the industry.
Rental companies and new boat sales recorded turnover hikes of 10% and 7%, respectively, a HISWA survey shows. But brokers report only a marginal improvement in 2018 and marinas say their business stabilized.
Still, a large majority of HISWA members are optimistic about r 2019.
HISWA sees the rise in rentals resulting from its ‘grow boating’ campaign adding it “will get more people out on the water in the years ahead.” Yacht builders and importers see demand rising and pre-owned boats selling faster.
