WAALWIJK – Van der Valk Shipyard is working on ‘Lady Lene’, a 34m aluminum expedition yacht for which it has called in major names in Dutch superyacht building.  Delivery of the 3-deck, custom Explorer is set for late 2021.

The clients were so pleased with the quality of their previous Van der Valk yacht, they returned for more. The yacht is fully wheelchair-accessible, courtesy of an elevator that connects all decks and floors with no obstructions. The superstructure has large windows for a panoramic view and wing stations for easy mooring.

The owners are represented by Fort Lauderdale-based YachtCreators with which  Van der Valk collaborated on Leven, an “Ultimate Exumas Superyacht” delivered in 2019.

For Lady Lene, Van der Valk also collaborates with Guido de Groot Yacht Design (interior and exterior), Ginton Naval Architects (naval design), Diana Yacht Design (engineering and construction drawings) and Hull Vane.

“One of the reasons for our success is our ability to enable an enormously productive collaboration between designers, owners, suppliers and the shipyard. By bringing in the best people for the job, we are assured of flexibility, specialization and superior solutions for clients,” says Yoeri Bijker, head of sales and marketing at Van der Valk.

Lady Lene will accommodate up to 10 guests, with a VIP passenger cabin on the bridge deck, a balcony and a rear terrace. The owner’s suite and office are located on the lower deck, along with 2 double cabins in the bow and a single cabin. There are 4 cabins for a 7-strong crew.

The main deck has a dining room with lots of natural light and a large open saloon. The ceilings are high everywhere – a specific wish of the owners and the floors are completely flat, with no steps. There is plenty of outdoor space and a large swimming platform.

Securing comfort and economical cruising are 2 Seakeeper 26 gyrostabilizers, a Hull Vane underwater wing and a Humphree electric fin stabilization system.

A family-run company with a pedigree spanning several generations, Van der Valk Shipyard specializes in developing and building safe, comfortable, (semi) custom aluminum motor yachts up to 40m.
