MIAMI – VETUS, the Dutch builder of marine engines and systems, attended the 2023 Discover Boating Miami International Boat Show and marked the 50th anniversary of its US operations.
VETUS founder Willem den Ouden opened his first office in the US in 1973, nine years after founding VETUS as a wholesaler operating from his home in Rotterdam. Today, VETUS runs a global distribution and service network with offices in 18 countries and distributors in many others.
At Miami, VETUS showed a video with highlights of its 50 years in the US and launched a year-long celebration of a half-century of operating there. Chris DeBoy, president of VETUS’ American pledged operations, pledged, “We’ll continue to be innovators providing industry-leading customer support.”
In January, VETUS announced a partnership with Yamaha Motor to integrate VETUS’ Bow Pro thruster range into Yamaha’s Helm Master EX control system giving boat owners joystick control and maneuverability over outboard engines.
Also in January, VETUS unveiled the E-LINE AIR range (above) of air-cooled, electric propulsion systems, which are ideal for new boats or refits. The series is now available in three sizes with outputs of 4kW at 24V, 4kW at 48V and 6kW at 48V.
Each model is lightweight and compact, reducing the cost of electrification projects while creating more engine room space. They are also modular and fully integrated, making upgrades easier.
