VETUS’ E-LINE engines feature unique ‘active motor braking.’

This is the second article in a 3-part series on VETUS’ electric propulsion strategy

SCHIEDAM – The newly launched VETUS E-LINE electric engine puts a neat technology in the hands of boaters.

Unique in the market, the E-LINE engine is, next to the company’s E-POD system,  the only electric propulsion solution with ‘active motor braking.’ This gives a boater optimum control of his or her vessel, with no delay and direct movement.

What’s more, electric propulsion needs neither gearbox nor clutch. To reverse the propeller, the electric motor can immediately come to a stop and rotate the prop in the opposite direction with no time delay. This is called Active Electronic Braking.

E-LINE engines feature a patent-pending Boosted Battery Charge function.

A 24V charger can be used to charge up the required 48V battery pack for propulsion. That yields an economic advantage as the 24V battery charger is more common and makes it easy for builders to install a low voltage 24 V electric board network.

The E-LINE engine is compact, complete, highly efficient, plug & play and suitable for both new builds and re-powering. Its drive works with the V-CAN bus system and meets all current and future emission requirements. Noiseless, infinitely adjustable and equipped with comprehensive protection against overload: the ideal companion for a comfortable trip!

The system consists of 5 modules. Within each, multiple choices and combinations are possible. The system blocks are: propulsion, control, monitoring and energy storage. The E-LINE engine delivers quiet, reliable and low-maintenance sailing.

The choice of engine depends on several factors, notably hull shape and speed.

VETUS gives standard a 3-year warranty on equipment and a 5-year warranty on engines.
