SCHIEDAM – Vetus BV, the Dutch developer, maker and marketer of marine engines, generators and technical gear for recreational craft and small commercial vessels has introduced Bow Pro Boosted Thrusters.
Bow Pro Boosted Thrusters, type BOWB180 and BOWB210, come with all the features of the Bow Pro series, plus a bonus. The company says there is a 3rd connection on the motor, leading current to an internal charger which steps up the voltage from 12 to 24 volt, allowing a 12 volt charging source such as the propulsion engine alternator, to charge a 24 volt battery bank.
The Bow Pro Thruster is a combination of Vetus’ electric bow thruster series – introduced in 2017 – and the company’s quiet RimDrive. The thrusters are fitted with proven induction technology that makes the use of carbon brushes obsolete. As a result, the bow thruster is very quiet and has indefinite run-time.
The (AC) induction motor is controlled by the VETUS MCV motor controller. This in-house-engineered motor controller can handle both 12V, 24V and AC motors, making the new bow thruster suitable for almost all boats!
The Bow Pro thruster is controlled by a proprietary CANBUS protocol. There are 2 different panels available for this thruster; one fully-proportional basic panel and one fully-proportional panel with lock-function. This allows the boat to be moored without the use of ropes.
Bow Pro Boosted Thrusters reflect Vetus’ philosophy to offer innovation through design. Vetus markets some 4,000 technical products that are mostly or partly designed by the company’s engineering team.
Vetus equipment comes standard with 3-year warranties and Vetus engines with 5-year warranties.
