OSSENZIJL – For close to 40 years in this town of two churches and 560 inhabitants, Vri-Jon DSA Yachts been building luxury steel motor yachts of 9 to 15m (30 to 49.5ft).
To date it has built more than 255 – mostly Contessa-branded, semi-custom yachts in half a dozen models and versions.
Its latest addition is the 12.5m (42ft) Contessa Cabrio, a convertible steel craft “with the same luxury and comfort as the other Contessas but that “provides for a strong outdoor feeling,” says yard owner Patrick Jonas.
“As the name ‘cabrio’ suggests, the hood over the outside steering position can be removed completely,” he adds. “In developing the Contessa line, we always considered three versions: an open cockpit, and aft cabin and a convertible model.”
Construction of the first Contessa 42 OC is in the final stages; the ship is scheduled for delivery in the fall. The Contessa-42 Cabrio has a draft of 1.10 m (3.6ft), has a fuel tank of 800L (176 gallons) and is powered by a 110HP Volvo Penta D3 diesel.
Jonas speaks of “a completely new type and design-luxury steel motor yacht as a cabrio version and with space for 4 to 6 persons. It was built for Europe’s inland and coastal waters. We build our yachts in accordance with the wishes of our customers.”
