Yanmar names Dutch yard its first ‘Flagship Store’

SNEEK – Yanmar Marine International has named diesel engine specialist Abma’s Jachtwerf here its first ‘Yanmar Flagship Store’ in the world. The 6,609 sq. m yard showcases “the full extent of the Yanmar marine brand and provides a high-quality experience for visitors and customers,” YMI says.

Abma’s Jachtwerf specializes in diesel technology and the installation and maintenance of onboard systems. Founded in the early 1960s, the yard has been a Yanmar dealer for more than 50 years.

“We are very proud to become the first YMI Flagship store and to strengthen our long relationship with YANMAR,” says Abma Jachtwerf Director Lars Walta, who co-owns the yard with his father Ron.

A recent yard upgrade, he added, has resulted “in more stock in parts and engines to meet demand. We have to keep investing in training, knowledge, and people.” Abma’s Jachtwerf has a harbor with 35 berths, two boat lifts of 20t and 40t, and a large workshop.
