SCHIEDAM – Many boaters know the feeling: maneuvering a boat into a tight berth or a narrow waterway can darken a sunny day. Bow and stern thrusters delivered greater boat control for years, and joystick technology has put that control at boaters’ fingertips.

Recent announcements by Vetus, the Dutch boat systems maker, have gone a step further. The company is marketing new options to command outboards and thrusters from one joystick.

These innovative,  integrated solutions ensure complete control, reducing the prospect of damage or injury due to handling errors and mishaps.

Vetus can integrate its Bow Pro thrusters with Yamaha and Mercury outboards. The Vetus Bow Pro thruster is standard, fully proportional controlled. Its brushless induction motors make the bow/stern thruster motor maintenance–free and deliver a longer runtime than conventional DC thrusters.

Yamaha’s Helm Master Ex is a fully integrated boat control system that simplifies navigating. Add a Vetus Bow Pro thruster, and the boat’s slow-speed maneuvering improves, as does the ease of berthing.

“There is nothing quite like the confidence that this level of integrated control gives you,” says Vetus.

With Mercury Marine, Vetus has collaborated to integrate Vetus Bow Pro thrusters with Mercury Joystick Piloting for Outboards (JPO). The compatible systems join seamlessly to create a compelling solution for the joystick piloting experience. The integration increases control of any size boat with twin or more Mercury Verado outboards.
