MEPPEL – Holterman Shipyard has launched the newest edition of its growing portfolio of sleek and fast yachts. The X-78 Flybridge is the second yacht resulting from collaboration between Holterman’s craftsmen, designer Bernd Weel and the owner.

The Xtreme series was launched in 2022 with the award-winning X-105 Lady Fleur. To develop the X-78 Fly, Holterman started with the X-78 Sport, a non-flybridge version built for –  and delivered to – an owner who wanted to use the best yacht to tour the Dutch canals.

This first X-78 was taken to the next level with the addition of the flybridge. The yard used the same aluminum hull and superstructure, advanced technical platform, and lower and main deck layout for efficiency. Still, the Fly was added to create the ultimate boat for the Mediterranean and beyond.

Thanks to twin Volvo Penta IPS 1350s delivering 1,000HP each, the X-78 Flybridge achieves a top speed of 28 knots and a cruise speed of 20 knots. The interior space includes a full-beam master suite, a VIP suite at the front and two double guest bedrooms below.

“After the X-treme 105 Lady Fleur, there was much demand for smaller yachts with the same look and ethos,” says Bernd Weel. “Customers fell in love with the styling and design, and so the Xtreme line was born. The line grew quickly, and each project involved a customer – it was never built on spec. The X-78 Fly was no different.”

The X-78 Fly’s multifunctional and cozy upper deck, sheltered under a hardtop with a sunroof, captures the imagination of cruising in the Mediterranean. “It’s all about outdoor living and more outdoor space to complement the huge interior,” Weel says. “That’s the main focus.”

The X-78 is also suitable for cruising the Mediterranean because it meets French anchorage restrictions. The X-78 Fly is 23.9m long, just under the French limit of 24m. In France, a 45m yacht must report an hour before arrival and provide the anchor plan. The yacht may be refused for environmental and safety reasons.
